My First Major Story

So. Mpls Ball of Fire

My first big story in the Twin Cities is a huge gas pipeline rupture and fire in South Minneapolis. It happened on Thursday, March 17th a little before 9 AM. We had just finished our morning show. One of our traffic people saw the flames on a traffic cam and we knew this was serious.

We broke into broadcasting and I quickly left the station and headed south to the fire. I avoided the highway because troopers were closing it down. The fire was 100 yards away from the 35W highway. I took surface streets and was one of the first reporters on scene.

When I arrived I found dozens of people in their PJ's wrapped in blankets. I saw hundreds of cars evacuating the area and flames towering over the neighborhood from a half mile away.

The two cars you see in these photos were parked 50 to 60 yards away from the gas pipeline explosion. It exploded in front of a Cub Foods grocery store. The cars melted like Swiss cheese. I was able to snap these photos after the fire was out. Police told us moments later to clear the scene. Someone described the car up top resembling a toasted marshmallow. The bottom car happened to be the owner's company car.

Edgar on Wild 101 FM
August 13, 2010

This morning I went on Wild101FM.com  with Rick Moorten and talked about downtownwithedgar.com. When I showed up I noticed we were wearing the same thing. We talked about great places to visit in Idaho and Rick had some great suggestions on where we should do our next episode for DTw/Ed. At one point, he got me to break dance. Thank God we didn't have a video camera. Here's a small segment of the interview just click below.

UncleBoise & Edgar
After months of harassment, I decided to give in and do an interview with UncleBoise.com. They coerced me by inviting me to one of my favorite places for a late night slice, "The Front Door" on 6th street.

For well over a year, Madame Amber from UncleBoise.com has been writing "Love Letters to Edgar". They're sexy sensual letters written about yours truely. I never knew the letters existed until one of my former KTVB co-workers told me about them. They've even made some flattering videos and uploaded them on Youtube.com. Before you go and read the letters I just want clear up that I do NOT have back hair.

In the article they asked me about KTVB, Carolyn Holly, Doug Petcash, downtown Boise, and of course "Downtown with Edgar".

Here's a small part of the article:

UB: Let's face it. You had to carry Carolyn Holly too.

Edgar: [Laughing] No, no no.

UB: She stands on her own?

Edgar: [Laughing] She does. She does.

UB: You could probably carry David Augusto though. He's pretty small.

Edgar: I could probably carry him, yeah.

ESPN's College GameDay
September 25, 2010

This morning I decided to wake up with thousands of Bronco fans to attend ESPN's College GameDay. This is also Boise's first home game. I even made a big poster you can see up top. The poster says "Break those Beavers", and it shows Buster Bronco choking a beaver.

I thought getting there an hour before the show started would give me enough time to get sat, man, did I underestimate the size of crowd that came out. Some arrived at the day before. 13,205 fans showed up to Bronco stadium. The line to get in could have wrapped around the stadium 4 times.

I saw a Llama wearing blue and orange, and a baby stroller beefed up for the game. Good times!
